'A-Team' Helmer Plots GN Due in May from IDW
Date: 1/27/2010
Joe Carnahan, who is directing Fox?s adaptation of the 1980s hit TV series The A-Team, has co-plotted The A-Team: Shotgun Wedding graphic novel ($17.99), which IDW will publish in May in advance of the June 11th theatrical debut of the film that Fox hopes will be a summer blockbuster on the order of other 1980s properties such as Transformers and G.I. Joe. In May IDW is also publishing The A-Team: War Stories ($17.99), a collection of four stories that introduce the revived A-Team and serve as prequels to the new film. Written by Chuck Dixon and Erik Burnham, the 104-page, full color War Stories provides a look at the wartime adventures of the members of the A-Team before they were a team.

Shotgun Wedding, a full color, 104-page graphic novel, features an original story by Carnahan and Tom Waltz with art by Stephen Mooney. It is definitely not an adaptation of the A-Team movie. Carnahan, who most recently directed Smokin? Aces, came up with a story for Shotgun Wedding that has the A-Team relaxing in San Diego after a rigorous mission only to find themselves in the middle of a terrorist plot.

The A-Team film features an all-star cast including Liam Neeson (Taken) as Hannibal Smith, Bradley Cooper (The Hangover) as Lt. Templeton (?Faceman?) Pike, Sharlto Copley (District 9) as Murdock, and Quinton ?Rampage? Jackson as B. A. Baracus. Jazwares has the toy license for the extremely ?toyetic? property (see ?Jazwares Captures A-Team License?), which also stars the comely Jessica Biels (see ?Jessica Biel in A-Team?).
