'Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl' Acquired by Funimation

Funimation Entertainment has announced the acquisition of home entertainment, digital, and merchandising rights to the live action horror comedy Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl, which was directed by Naoyuki Tomomatsu and Yoshihiro Tomomatsu, the creators of cult classics such as Tokyo Gore Police, Robogeisha, and The Machine Girl. Vampire Girl premiered at the New York Asian Film Festival in 2009 where it won the ?Audience Award.?

Funimation is hosting screenings of the film this week at the Mayfair Theater in Ottawa, Ontario and plans a late night showing the Nashville Independent Film Festival on April 20th. Funimation will release the film on DVD and Blu-ray in October of 2010.

Valentine?s Day becomes the catalyst for this horror saga when the vampire teen Monami gives the hapless schoolboy Mizushima a box of poisoned chocolates that turn him into an immortal bloodsucker, something that doesn?t sit well with his girlfriend Keiko. When Keiko confronts Monami, she is killed in a desperate duel, but Keiko?s mad scientist father brings her back to life in a re-animated ?Frankenstein? form and the battle is really ?on.?
