Nick Giving Kids a Million to "Just Play"

Nickelodeon will distribute $1 million in giveaways between September 2005 and June 2006 as part of its ?Let?s Just Play? program, the network said today.

The giveaways will take the form of $5,000 prizes awarded to twenty winners per month to help facilitate play in their community. Nickelodeon will begin promoting the giveaway on-air beginning August 6 with ?call for entry? spots.

To enter, kids must tell Nickelodeon what they need for their school or club to help them play better, explain why they need it, and give three reasons why play is important. Winners will be randomly selected from submitted forms and announced via Nickelodeon Online at the beginning of each month.

Kellogg will match a Nickelodeon grant of $100,000 for September, when the network will fund forty winners.

Also as part of its ?Let?s Just Play? program, Nickelodeon will go dark on Saturday, October 1, for three hours.
