Patty Jenkins to Direct 'Thor 2' For 2013 Release

The Hollywood trades (Deadline, Hollywood Reporter, Variety, EW) are all reporting that Patty Jenkins is in talks to direct Thor 2. Jenkins directed Monster, for which Charlize Theron received an Oscar, and more recently received an Emmy nomination for the pilot for The Killing.
Don Payne, who co-wrote Thor, is writing the script, according to the reports.
Other directors, including Brian (Game of Thrones) Kirk, have been considered for to direct Thor 2 (see ?Game of Thrones Helmer in talks for Thor 2?), and the reports are that Jenkins is in talks, so things could still change. The Thor sequel, which like the first film will star Chris Hemsworth, is due to be released July 26, 2013.
