Dynamite's 'Voltron' Launches in December With Ross Covers
Date: 9/23/2011
Dynamite Entertainment has announced a December launch date for its Voltron comic series, based on the classic robot super-hero. The new series will be written by Brandon Thomas, with covers by Alex Ross. The first issue will also have covers by Sean Chen and Wagner Reis
Dynamite obtained the license from Classic Media and World Events Productions (see ?Dynamite Lands Voltron Comics License? for news of the license acquisition and some history of the property in comics).
The Voltron property is undergoing a major revival. A new animated series, Voltron Force, began airing on Nicktoons last summer (see ?Voltron Force Premieres June 16th? for news and a trailer); Relativity Media recently won a bidding war to make a live action Voltron feature (see ?Relativity Media to Produce Live Action Voltron?); the first seven episodes of the original 80s animated series have just been released on DVD (see ?DVD Round-Up: Week of August 16th?); and Viz Media will produce graphic novels based on the new animated show (see ?Viz Media Expands Kids Imprint?).
