On October 4th, it was announced that the city of Wajima has established a project planing team for the construction of a ?Go Nagai? museum. The museum will commemorate Wajima native Nagai Go (age 60), the famous creator of numerous hit manga including Devilman and Cutey Honey.

In August Wajima mayor Kozue Fumiaki met with Nagai in Tokyo, where the famous manga-ka currently resides. When the mayor proposed a machi okoshi (city revitalization) project using characters from Nagai?s works, Mr. Nagai agreed, stating, ?For my home town, I offer my complete support.?

The planing team for the project will consist of 4 people responsible for researching possible construction sites, coordinating with Mr. Nagai, and working on other general tasks leading up to construction.

In addition, it has been announced that the city plans to invest 8 million yen (US$70,000) this November to begin the project. The funds will go towards the establishment of informational displays in the city, featuring characters from Mazinger-Z and other series, that will inform citizens and tourists about the planned museum.

Although a native of Wajima, Nagai currently resides in the Shinjuku ward of Tokyo.
