Anime titles download to iPod

Central Park Media has begun offering anime shows through its own Web site that can be downloaded to Apple's new video iPod, the company said.

Central Park is offering downloads of the first episode of upcoming release Armored Trooper VOTOMS and a trailer for Kakurenbo: Hide & Seek, which is slated to premiere on Cartoon Network at midnight on Oct. 29. Although the shows play on iPods, they are not yet available through Apple's iTunes download store, where other iPod programs are available for download. Central Park is in negotiations with Apple to make its offerings available through iTunes.

Central Park will make full episodes and trailers of popular anime shows Descendants of Darkness, Revolutionary Girl Utena and Shadow Star Narutaru available for download through its own site in the coming weeks, the company said.

"It is a well-known fact that anime fans are the earliest adopters of new technology hardware and software," said CPM fan-community liaison Peter Tatara. "We are sure that they will quickly become a major customer base for video iPods. So we want to ensure that they can enjoy their favorite CPM titles on this new device."
