Bandai Visual Preparing for US DVD Launch Date: 12/2/2005 |

Inks Distribution Deal, Movies Set for Dubbing -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As first reported in January 2005, Bandai Visual has established a subsidiary, Bandai Visual USA in Torrance, California. Established with close to $1 million in operating capital, it was reported by Nikkei Net at the time that the company would "sell DVDs of hit Japanese anime." However no details have been made available since then. Some information has come to light recently. Bandai Visual USA has signed a distribution deal with Chatsworth, Calififornia based Image Entertainment. Image currently has a very small stable of its own anime titles that it distributes, as well as a few titles for other anime producers. Bandai Visual USA has contracted Elastic Media Corporation to produce English language dubs for the shows it is planning on releasing. Bandai Visual will be overseeing the dubs produced by Elastic Media. Currently ANN has only received information regarding catalog titles that Bandai Visual plans to release in North America. We do not know what, if any newer titles they will release. Among the catalog titles set for release are Patlabor 1: The Movie and Patlabor 2: The Movie. Other titles already released in North America are expected to follow. |
