Cartoon Network Creating In-House Department for Tv Movies & Mini-Series
Date: 4/12/2006
More Details on Live-Action at Cartoon Network

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cartoon Network is creating an in-house longform department that will be overseen by Ramsey Naito, who previously supervised the development, production and marketing of Nickelodeon's Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, Rugrats in Paris and Rugrats Gone Wild.

According to Variety, Cartoon Network is also opening its doors to more live-action programming. The recent airing of Carrey's Dumb and Dumber brought in 2.3 million viewers for Cartoon Network.

Michael Ouweleen, senior VP at Cartoon Network, says that the network isn't changing its focus from animation to live-action, "There's no mandate to have a certain number of live-action shows on the network, or any at all." He also said that they would prefer to air cartoon-related properties. This summer they will be making a big event out of the premiere of the Spider-Man movie.

The original live-action project for Cartoon Network will be Re-Animated, a hybrid animation/live-action project set to premiere this fall.
