Nikkei Characters Suspends Publication

Known for quite a few big scoops over the years, Nikkei Business Publication's anime, manga and video game contents character focused magazine Nikkei Characters will suspend publication indefinetly from the August edition. The news was posted to the official website on August 7th. Bimonthly publication has continued since the first issue in May, 2004. The mangazine becomes the latest adult (not porn) oriented animation magazine to suffer at an apparant imploding market phenomena for such mags in Japan. Publishing houses have seen their readers abandoning print circulars for online news and content which is most the time free and up the second current. Other recent victims include Animation RE which suspended publication in June, and Otaku Elite, whose publisher went bankrupt. http://chara.nikkeibp.co.jp/chara/index.html
