Live Action Gakkou No Kaidan Film Announced

Based on the early 1990's novel series by Toru Tsunemitsu, Gakkou No Kaidan (Ghost Stories) is headed for a live action film adaptation in Japan. The premiere is set for Golden Week 2007 in Roppongi. The Director will be Hirohisa Sasaki who will also write the script. Starring will be Mei Kurokawa, Toshinobu Matsuo, Yuka Kosaka, Airi Toriyama and Kai Asami. Distribution via Unplugged, Production by Gakkou No Kaidan Production Committee (USEN, Kadokawa Herald, Pay Per Ciew Japan, Enterbrain, Die Mode). The story was also adapted to a 20 episode anime TV series by Studio Pierrot in 2000. ADV Films holds the North American anime license and released the animation in English in October 2005. Their English dub version was notable for script changes which diverted significantly from the original Japanese copy. Enterbrain recently released a series of 3 Gakkou No Kaidan pocket edition novels written by Kaima Takaaki and illustrated by Amafuku Amane late last year in Japan.
