Shogakukan Plans Spring Light Novel Market Assault
Date: 1/29/2007
Come spring, Shogakukan and SPE will strengthen their marketing efforts in Japan's booming Light Novel segment widely read by those in their 20's. The initiative will use new writers, cell phone delivery and content derived from Sony Pictures properties. The light novel market encompasses sales of around 30 million books a year. Unlike the rest of the slumping publishing industry in Japan, over the last several years the Light Novel division has seen growth. Shogakukan will start a pocket edition series for high school students in the spring of this year.
