Date: 2/20/2007
Sports Illustrated has an update on how star Japanese baseball pitcher Kei Igawa is adapting to life in the USA. He played for the Hanshin Tigers from 1998-2006, becoming a three-time Central League strikeout champion and earning consecutive All-Star berths from 2001-03. The Yankees signed him to a $20 million, five-year contract last year. Igawa's otaku tendancies are widely known, he's a huge fan of videogames, radio control aircraft and anime. One of his favorite shows is Detective Conan and he reportedly missed a team meeting back in Japan so he could catch the broadcast of an anime TV episode.
