Buena Vista Declares Next Gen Format War Over / Releases Ghibli Work On Blu-Ray

Buena Vista Home Entertainment held their "2007 SPRING CONVENTION" on March 13th at the Tokyo International Forum located in Yurakucho. There they announced their lineup and marketing plan for DVD Blu-Ray Disc for spring - early summer, 2007. Declaring the next gen video disc format war over the company's marketing director Masami Takahashi announced their first high def media release will be Studio Ghibli and painter Inoue Naohisa's Iblard Jikan to be made on BD Video on July 4th. Retail will be 4,935 Yen. A DVD version will street in Japan simultaneously for 3,990 Yen. Kiyonori Matsuo and Kazuyuki Komuro will score the animation. The discs will inlcude extras such as a video diary and commentary by the director.
