Date: 2/10/2005
A new method has gained popularity recently in Japan to secure production capital used by new music bands and pop idol's to generate CD and DVD releases, the private investor fund. And despite initial risk, those willing to put up the cash are getting back compensation extending beyond the monetary realm. This is being called the "funds business" in Japan There are many artists who cannot put out CD because there is no money even if they posess great talent. Many private individuals are therefore supplementing the deficit artists are facing on the capital and marketing side. Groups like "Rights bank" located in Shibuya establish such funds which private investors can then contribute to. Upon reaching an investment goal, the artist can then take the money and produce a CD. Investors can then get return according to the provided distribution simulated for a certain period. Advantages also enjoyed by investors include preferential treatment such as tickets to live perfomances. These types of funds have also been popular recently with creators developing idol DVD's, photograph collections, anime production, filmmaking, etc.
