Funimation Thinking Blu-Ray While Geneon Waits

The gaming news site IGN has posted the first of two reports on high-definition discs in the North American anime industry, with Funimation stating it is "in the Blu-ray camp." Funimation cites the Sony PlayStation 3 game console as a factor, and says the Blockbuster video rental chain's recent Blu-ray Disc expansion complements its own decision. Geneon is "waiting for the consumer demand to be high enough to make anime high-def profitable." Bandai Visual USA debuted Freedom on HD DVD, but is planning Wings of Honneamise on both Blu-ray and HD DVD.
