SOTA Toys Nabs Micronauts License Six-Inch Figures Out in Late 2005
Date: 2/21/2005
SOTA Toys has announced a license to create 6-inch scale action figures based on the classic Micronauts toyline. SOTA's Micronauts-Evolution Series 1 will keep the interchangeability of the original Micronauts figures even as it beefs up their stature to please modern collectors. Series I of SOTA's Micronauts-Evolution toys will include Space Glider, Lobros, and Baron Garza. The figures are scheduled for release in late 2005 and will have an SRP of $19.99 each.

Originally produced by Takara in Japan in 1974, the Micromen, as they were known in Japan, became Micronauts when they were brought to the U.S. by MEGO from 1976-1980 and the original MEGO Micronaut figures are now highly prized collectibles. Palisades Toys (then known as Palisades Marketing) produced a series of Micronauts toys in 2002-2003 that closely mimicked the original figures in size (3 ?-inch) and interchangeability of parts. SOTA is obviously hoping that its larger scale Micronauts-Evolution figures will find success with contemporary collectors.
