Funimation Reduces Staff, Reportedly by 10%

The ICv2 retailer news site reports that Funimation has reduced its staff by about 10%. A Funimation spokesperson confirmed with ICv2 the reduction (but not its size) and said that the move was "to ensure that we continue to provide the highest quality products for anime fans while maximizing the company's profitability." The news comes after the beta period closure of Funimation's sister website animeOnline.com and the layoff of its staff. Other companies in the industry have laid off staffers in the last three years, including A.D. Vision, Central Park Media, and Geneon Entertainment.
