Date: 8/30/2007
The current issue of the scholarly journal Perspectives: Studies in Translatology is devoted entirely to topics surrounding translating and adapting Japanese animation, comics and videogames into various other languages. The individual papers in the issue include a discussion about the difficulty of coming up with subtitles for Satoshi Kon's Millennium Actress that would express the whole complexity of the film, a history of fansubbing, and a comparison of the work of American anime translators Neil Nadelman and David Fleming. Abstracts of the articles can be accessed on the journal's website
