Tokyopop's Star Wars Cine-Manga Original Trilogy Exclusive to Germany, UK & Japan
Date: 3/4/2005
The original Star Wars saga is getting the Cine-Manga treatment from Tokyopop, but U.S. retailers may not be able to sell the three volumes that are coming out this spring in the UK, Germany and Japan. News of the three volumes has been posted on the StarWars.com Website, along with information indicating that the volumes are exclusive to the German, English and Japanese markets. The U.S. Star Wars license for comics is held by Dark Horse.

In addition to the three volumes which use images from the original Star Wars films along with dialogue balloons to retell the original Star Wars saga, Cine-Manga volumes based on the Clone Wars cartoons and the current "prequel" trilogy are also in the works -- though so far there is no word on whether these other Cine-Manga series will be for foreign markets only. Tokyopop has not responded to ICv2's inquiries by press time, but we hope to have answers about the domestic availability of these potentially best-selling Cine-Manga volumes very soon.
