Graphic Novel Day at the BEA Starts With DBD Breakfast

Saturday, May 31st has been designated "Graphic Novel Day" at Book Expo America with events that include a breakfast sponsored by Diamond Books Distributors and more than ten conference sessions featuring industry leaders, which will extend throughout the day and which are sponsored by the New York Comic Con.



The DBD breakfast will be held in room 403AB of the Los Angeles Convention Center. Jeff Smith, the creator of Bone, will host the proceedings at which noted graphic novel creators Art Spiegelman (Maus, In the Shadow of No Towers), Mike Mignola (Hellboy), and Jeph Loeb (Superman/Batman) will speak. The cost to attend the breakfast is $25.



During the rest of the day eleven graphic novel-related conference will be held covering a variety of topics including: Designing a Graphic Novel; Graphic Novel Distribution; What's Hot, What's Good What's Next; The New Comic Book to Film Machinery; What Retailers & Librarians Should Know About Video Games; Manga's New Generational Trade-Up; Emerging Voices and Artists; Building a Graphic Novel Section for Kids & Tweens; Sex in Graphic Novels; Graphic Novel Buzz; and The New Literacy: How Graphic Novels, the Web, and Video Games Are Changing the Way We Process Information.
