Japanese News Paper Looks at Anime Tourism

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Earlier this week, the Japanese newspaper Asahi Shinbun printed an article about Pop Japan Travel (PJT), one of the travel agencies currently offering anime themed tours of Japan.

The article (March 14th evening edition), focuses on Pop Japan Travel, but goes on to explain that the number of autonomous companies like PJT,promoting anime-related tourism, is increasing.

With 70 of the nation's 430 anime studios located in Tokyo's Suginami ward, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has established an anime division in it's tourism department..

One Missouri participant of the PJT tour has now gone to Japan 5 times with PJT. "The tour lets me visit the actual locations that appeared in the manga," she says, referring to Rurouni Kenshin.

In the past the PJT tour has visited locations like the Studio Ghibli Museum, Production I.G and regularly visits popular Tokyo shopping districts like Akihabara and Harajuku.

PJT's 9th tour to Japan since 2003 will be heading to Japan at the end of March, and will visit Toei's Kyoto Studio Park, Square Enix, Osaka, Akihabara, Harajuku, the Tokyo Anime Fair and other locations.
