Date: 4/7/2010
Netcomics, the U.S. affiliate of Korean comic publisher Ecomix Media, is set to produce "X Diary" for American auds.

Based on the eponymous manhwa (Korean graphic novel), the $10 million-budget "X Diary" follows a cartoonist and a musician as they end their romance and test the murky waters of platonic friendship.

Helmer Kalman Apple will make his feature debut from a script by Kevan Peterson, based on the manhwa by Toma.

The film is produced by Netcomics' VP Soyoung Jung. Casting will begin in June and filming will begin in October.

Glendale-based Netcomics set up in production a year ago and is mining its extensive catalog of comics for projects.
