Historic Toei Theater Closes
Date: 2/17/2005
Hosting a trove of movie memories spanning 50 years, the Aomori Toei Cinema will close on April 15th in Japan. The small theater which is managed by the animation giant has faced increasing competition with the great multiplexs that have sprung up in the area in recent years. Aomori Toei opened in 1957, with it's own building "Toei plaza" being added in 1986, it's remained in the same state with 3 screens since then. Japanese films out of the studios of Toei and Toho could be seen within over the years. Upon the closing, the Toei plaza building which includes Aomori Toei will be managed as a tenant building.
