Anime Sales on the Upswing Date: 3/29/2005 |
| From 2004 to 2005, anime DVD sales increased by 7.6%, according to the latest numbers from Videoscan. ADV fared particularly well, with Chrono Crusade, Gantz, and DNAngel all performing strongly in Q1 2005. Gantz is notable because ADV packaged it in a nonstandard format: two episodes per disc at $14.98 each. Disney also helped the market with a number of successful Miyazaki releases, most recently Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, which reached #14 overall on its first week of release. |
