Spider-Man Play Shut Down Out of Money
Date: 8/13/2009
The broadway production of Spider-Man (see ?Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark?) has been shut down, according to the New York Post?s Michael Riedel, due to a lack of money. Although a spokesperson for the show said it will still begin preview performances in February, work must resume soon for that schedule to be met.

Riedel says the root problem is a fight between director Julie Taymor and producer David Garfinkle, and the loss of confidence in Garfinkle by Marvel and Sony. The budget also appears to be going up, with numbers as high as $50 million being floated. Riedel believes production will resume after Garfinkle is removed.
