AJA Brings Anti-Piracy Fight To Second Hand Books Market
Date: 5/4/2005
The Association of Japanese Animations (AJA), which was out in force at last Month's Tokyo Anime Fair pushing it's recently launched anti-piracy initiative has taken the message to the Recycling Bookstore Kyougikai (Conference). The aim is halting purchases and distribution of pirate edition animation DVD's on the second hand market, which has boomed in popularity and outlets across Japan recently. Both organizations recently agreed to mutual cooperation in the effort which will extend into the conference's member stores and hopefully prevent bootleg anime media from flowing out to the market. Both parties agreed this was crucial to maintaining a healthy animation DVD market.
The AJA acknowledges spread of such pirated goods as an epidemic, with examples being discovered in shops increasingly recently with about 3 million DVD's circulating via the venue annually.

The Recycling Bookstore Conference Secretariat was founded on December 1st, 2001 and is located in Kanagawa Prefecture Sagamihara City chaired by Mr. Takashi Sakamoto. Seven nationwide chains making up the major Japanese companies dealing in used books sales have joined as of April, 2005.
