Marvel's superheroes get cute makeover for 'Little Big Planet'
Date: 6/30/2010
Marvel and Sony have revealed that a new batch of downloadable content for the PlayStation 3's LittleBigPlanet will feature a bevy of Marvel superhero costumes for players to kit out their in-game characters.

Additional character costumes have been an emerging video game trend in the last few years, with recent titles such as Street Fighter IV, Uncharted 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2 among those offering a fresh look for a few extra dollars and cents.

LittleBigPlanet's characters resemble lively little dolls made of a sack-like material (hence the names 'Sackboy' and 'Sackgirl'), and early in the game players are shown how to customize their appearance using a variety of found materials.

DC Comics has delved into both family-friendly and more mature video game territories with Lego Batman at one end of the scale and Batman: Arkham Asylum at the other.

Marvel, for its part, has found success with the Marvel vs Capcom fighting games and offered a video game spin-off of the Marvel Super Hero Squad cartoon and toy line late in 2009.

The LittleBigPlanet packs, which are due to start rolling out on July 7, promise a total of 20 costumes: Captain America, Daredevil, Doctor Octopus, Elektra, Ghost Rider, Green Goblin, Hulk, Invisible Woman, Iron Man, The Human Torch, Magneto, Mystique, The Punisher, Rogue, Spider-Man, Storm, The Thing, Thor, Venom and Wolverine. Can you spot them all?

Keep up to date with the costumes as they're unveiled at LittleBigPlanet.com and Marvel.com.
