Spoiler Alert: Photos Reveal ?Avengers? Film Menace The Evidence Mounts
Date: 8/19/2011
Spoiler Alert: Photos from the Cleveland location shoot of Joss Whedon?s Avengers appear to confirm that the identity of the film?s major menace is exactly what was inadvertently leaked late last year by a New Mexico newspaper (see ?Kree-Skrull War in Avengers Movie??). Pictures reveal the remains of what appears to be an alien spacecraft with definite otherworldly design elements, which would certainly fit in with a conflict between The Avengers and the shape-shifting Skrull, who are in many ways ideal villains given their ability to impersonate the very heroes who are hunting them. And of course they have had memorable encounters with The Avengers in the comics starting with Roy Thomas? original ?Kree-Skrull War? back in the 1970s, which ran in Avengers #89 to #97.

Mo-Cap Work
A second photo from The Daily Blam shows an actor doing mo-cap work in a suit covered with sensors, and it also tends to reinforce the Skrull hypothesis. The actor could easily be impersonating an alien, and the space ship crash appears to be the event that triggers the outdoor action sequences that Whedon has been shooting in Cleveland this week.

Here's another shot showing actors in mo-cap gear. This time Captain America appears to be taking on two of what could well turn out to be alien humanoid creatures in a battle on top of an NYPD police car.

Whedon?s Avengers blasts into theaters on May 4th 2012. For more pictures from the Cleveland location shoot check out ?Captain America on the Streets of Cleveland,? and ?First Footage of the Avengers?).
