Japanese Distributor Buys Stone Bridge Press Key Publisher of Books on Asian Pop Culture

Yohan, Inc., the largest distributor of general foreign books and magazines in Asia, has purchased Stone Bridge Press of Berkeley, California, one of the leading English language publishers of books about Japan and Asia. Stone Bridge is particularly well known in the markets ICv2 serves because of its books about anime, manga, J-Pop music and Japanese films. Stone Bridge titles of note include: The Anime Encyclopedia, The Anime Companion (1 & 2), Jrock Ink, Stray Dogs & Lone Wolves: The Samurai Film Handbook, The Dorama Encyclopedia, Watching Anime, Reading Manga, The Anime Explosion and Animation on DVD.



Stone Bridge Editor-in-Chief Peter Goodman will remain in charge at Stone Bridge's offices in Berkeley, and Stone Bridge plans to expand its output, particularly in the area of Japanese and Asian popular culture, making full use of the resources of Yohan, which owns the Japanese publisher IBC Books. Stone Bridge and IBC will exchange editorial expertise to promote new title development in their respective markets.
