BIBLOS Publishing Division Acquired by Animate Group

The publishing division of bankrupt boys' love specialists BIBLOS has been acquired jointly by Animate, Movic, and Frontier Works.

According to an April 20 report from the Shinbunka publishing industry newspaper, the anime merchandising giant Animate Group (consisting of Animate, Movic, and Frontier Works) have made a joint investment in the publisher, and intend to establish a new company to continue printing boys' love manga. Few specifics have been revealed at this point in time, but there are apparently plans to resume publication of Magazine BE x BOY as soon as possible.

After the bankruptcy was announced, there was some initial speculation that Kadokawa would be the one to buy out the boys' love publisher. While this turned out not to be the case, the publishing department's relationship with the Animate Group is expected to lead to a greater availability of boys' love-related merchandise on the market.
