2006: Anime Dominates DVD Sales In Japan Date: 3/13/2007 |
| JVA (Japan Video Software Association) came out with its 2006 report on the Japanese home entertainment market. DVD sales fell 6.6% over the period, the second straight year for a negative result. Anime represented 24.5% ($460 million) of the total Japanese DVD market, though the figure shows a 14.1% drop compared with last year. HD DVD, BD, and UMD accounted for 0.3% of overall format sales, Videotapes had a 1.7% share, DVD's held a 98.3% share. |
