Otakon Releases 2007 Attendance Figures
Date: 8/7/2007
Matt Smiechowski, Otakorp's corresponding secretary, announced that a total of 22,852 people attended Otakon 2007 as members (i.e., paid attendees only, not including guests, staff, dealers, press, and others who received complimentary badges). Attendance at the convention, currently North America's second largest, increased from last year's total by 550 people (or about 2.5%). 16,903 people pre-registered for the 2007 event, with the rest paying onsite. According to AnimeCons.com, this pre-registration number is down from 17,500 last year and 19,900 the year before.
