New Speed Racer DVD Out in May Distinctive 'Steering Wheel' Packaging

Lions Gate, which now owns Artisan (and Family Home Entertainment), has announced a May 24 release for the third volume in the Speed Racer series. Speed Racer is one anime series that appeals more to older nostalgia-prone consumers, who remember the Mach 5's run on American TV, than to contemporary anime fans. The Speed Racer DVD series features distinctive packaging, Volume #1 had a real rubber-like tread packaging and Volume #2 had a button, which when pushed illuminated the Mach 5's headlights and played the Speed Racer theme song. The third volume in the series maintains the tradition with packaging designed to look like the steering wheel on a racecar.



The third volume of Speed Racer includes 13 episodes and has a suggested retail price of $22.98.
